In life and in most professional situations, one gets what one pays for. Migration agents who undercharge are doing both the client and themselves a disservice. When a migration agent undercharges, consciously or subconsciously the agent looks to cut corners to make the file more economic.
There is something worse than not having clients and that is having a client who does not pay or does not pay a proper fee and fair fee.
The industry is rife with agents who feel they can build up a practice by heavy discounting. The writer’s experience is that such agents do not last in the industry for very long.
After long experience the writer has come to the conclusion that many people see visa issues like sorting out the registration of a car. Hence why should they pay professional fees for sorting out car registration.
Such clients generally cause more trouble than they are worth and should not be taken on. A client quibbling about fees will only cause trouble down the track.
Charging proper reasonable remuneration is essential to proper file management. Consciously or subconsciously a migration agent may be tempted to do less work on a file where the agent is not being properly remunerated.
Doing less work often leads to professional negligence.
